From the telex to fax
Telex as a means of transmission of texts emerged in the 1930s and formed 50 years especially for companies is the fastest way to transmit messages. The Telex was first used in Germany 1933rd Only in the 80s of last century it was of new inventions such as the fax and later replaced the Internet. When telex system, each participant had its own telex numbers and messages have been called by a hand placement (HV) or an automated attendant, in Germany 39 TW (TW = user choice), forwarded by the sender to the receiver.
From about 1970, was introduced by Siemens, the new automatic system ED1000. The Telex system offered the one hand a high security of data transmission, but was caused by a slow transfer rate and low required specialized data lines. The associated costs make that the telex virtually exclusively by companies, banks and government agencies was used and was told no private use. In contrast, the fax machines to maintain and less expensive to buy. Here, data transmission over the already existing phone line, which makes its own pipeline redundant.
Fax machines also offer the possibility of transmission of
pictures or drawings, while the telex can pass exclusively text
messages. The fax is thus nothing more than a fax, how it was
invented in principle in 1843 as a copy Telegraph in Scotland: a
template is scanned by the transmitter and transmitted
electronically to the receiving device, where it is then printed
out. A simple and inexpensive operation have made the fax to a
business and leisure much used means of information transmission
when shifted in recent years the focus of the data transfer more
and more on the Internet.
